While it is obviously my job to see the Southern Utah Real Estate housing glass as half full (which is not hard for me to justify right now), I keep finding supporting evidence of “Green Sprouts” of hope… NAR (National Association of Realtors) reported on Monday the quantity of signed Real Estate Purchase Contracts (REPC) to buy previously occupied homes rose for the second month in a row to a seasonally adjusted index of 84.6 in March for “pending sales” up by 3.2 percent.
Buyers are taking advantage of bargain prices on distressed properties in Southern Utah as well. Our monthly sales numbers on the Washington County Board of Realtors are up significantly from the end of last year. With our Saint George area home buyers enjoying low interest rates, tax credits for first-time buyers, and in St George Utah, the $6,000 “*Home Run Grant” program our market is doing better than most had anticipated. I’m starting to like 2009
