As I sit and read my daily online news, so that I can write my blog…I keep noticing economic signs of life in the news. It looks like consumer confidence has soared to the highest level in eight months in May… chrushing analysts’ estimates, it seems that Americans grew optimistic that the job market and business conditions will turn the corner before year’s end.
Meanwhile rates on 30-year mortgages edge down last week, lingering below 5% for the tenth straight week, and just above record lows. The net result was that mortgage applications rose last week, reflecting an increase in demand for home refinancing as interest rates fell.
